Order

I need some order in my life right now. I've begun to notice myself loosing a lot of motivation and follow through on several things and I'm hoping to get back on track. This is some way of trying that out. My plan is to start posting about the things I do in a effort to maintain a little bit of structure. Let's see if it works in the up coming days, I tend to blog for a bit and then dwindle out... More to come

Architecture

Last time I pointed out that I was planning on taking more time for my hobbies and interests. I'm not completely there yet but I've at least begun to bridge the surface... Architecture has just recently become a fascination of mine and so I headed to the library to check out some literature to start me off in the right direction. The Architecture of Happiness by Alaine De Botton was one of the most recommended, and thats what I've been reading. Slowly progressing through the book I have already gathered a wealth of knowledge about the history of architecture and how it came to be a art and career. I can notice my self more than ever comparing buildings and houses to one another and picking out similarities between current and past design. It's interesting to view objects that are all around us with such a different eye then I did a few weeks ago and it has definitely sparked my imagination to create designs of my own. But first, I need to learn how to draw much better and create perception so it all doesn't come out flat. Once I produce something appealing I'll throw is up on here. Also, I have still been taking photos with masks but yet to develop any of them... I'm sure this blog will see them the minute I have some prints.

V5

Volume 2: Rock Climbing
Climbing has really taken over my life. I've been doing it from 3 to 6 times a week and enjoying every minute of it. Most recently I started doing tall wall which is your normal form of rock climbing and it's been taking over a large amount of the time I spend on the wall. Somehow the feeling of climbing and climbing to the top of this huge rock wall is completely different from finishing a bouldering problem. I not only have to face a fear of being higher then I'm use to, but my muscles aren't trained yet for the distance. On the boulder side of things I've recently progressed from v3 climbs to v4 and v5's(hence the name of this post). A huge step for me. Not only did it happen out of no where but I've continuously pushed myself to go farther and farther with my ability. I've set some pretty hard goals for myself so we'll see if I'll be humbled or manage to stay on track.
Meanwhile I've really put my photography, riding, and architecture on hold which has been bring me down a bit. I need to focus more! All of these things interest me more than anything but I find I've been slacking. slacking a lot.
More will come as I begin to resume my hobbies, for now...... Check out the band Midlake, they're dope!

Playing With Masks

Well were into the new year with a silent absence of Fixed Photography. Until now I've been putting off posting anything on my blog but I think it's about time to rekindle this project. Maybe this all means I need to narrow my goals a little and focus more on one subject...?
To just throw myself into this newest approach, I've begun trying to replicate some of the ideas and emotions that photographer Ralph Eugene Meatyard portrays in his photos. The very subtle back rounds he places his characters in to the masks that adorn their faces have always intrigued me and sparked a interest in playing with masks. I like the way you aren't able to associate any emotions besi
de that of which the mask allows and how it can almost fool you into forgetting who is behind the mask lures the viewer into the photo and it's different aspects. I'm aiming to shoot a couple photos over the next few days ad develop them in order to get a sense of where I wanna go with this. Hopefully I'll get some decent stuff out of my first roll to motivate me onward...

For now I'll leave you with some photos from his book, The Family Album Of Lucybelle Crater.

Bouldering? Bouldering!

Another section to Fixed Photography?
Recently I've taken a interest in rock climbing, specifically bouldering at ironworks in berkeley. Apart from being a great means of exercise I've found that it's been one of the only things I've felt a strong calling to do on a daily basis. Just the other day I was able to use new found strength and accomplish three new climbs I had been trying to complete for a month or so. Definitely the pinnacle of my week. Anyways, I'm hoping to some how incorporate this into my blog with photos and what not. We'll see if I can pull it all together.

Fixed Vida!

So lately my friends and I have been riding around more and more on our track bikes trying to do some new things while still using them for transportation. We've thrown together two videos over the past few months, both of which I can't say are anywhere near decent but I'll link them anyways. Expect more about my trials and tribulations with the fixed life.
